Defunkt @ Quasimodo - Berlin(DE)

DEFUNKT back @Quasimodo

"Back in the 80th - what a time it was" was the opening words of Joseph Bowie - frontman of DEFUNKT - at the gig in Dortmund 2007. This night - it was almost the same.

Months before I realized that I have missed them in March when they were playing in Berlin - so this time I didn't want to miss them.

I told my wife about their gig and she was happy to come with me.

The gig should start at 10 pm at the Quasimodo so we decided to take the car for it. We got a nearby parking place and when we entered the Quasimodo it still was music from the mixer. After ordering some drinks and having a good place to stay and sit they came out for the show.

Die Ärzte @Flughafen Tempelhof / Berlin

During our Finland vacation I asked my Family who liked to see "Die Aerzte" on Tempelhofer Feld near our house. No one except my daughter would like to go with me - she would rather see "Seeed" but "Aertze" were also ok for her, she said. So I ordered only two tickets for this event.

It was a three day event from Friday to Sunday - two of Germanys best known Punk-Rock Bands "Die Toten Hosen" and "Die Aertze" were playing every evening alternately. We saw them on Saturday.

The Tall Ships Races 2013 / Helsinki

Highlight of our 4 weeks summer vacation in Finland was "The Tall Ships Races" in Helsinki - the whole harbour which is near the apartment of my parents in law was full of big and small sailing ships and around the ships there were some stages where local known artists have there appearance.

Jussi - my wife's brother and also a musician - told us to which of the artists we should go and he would accompany us.

Groundation @ C-Club - Berlin(DE)

Groundation @C-Club / Berlin

Already in March Michael Ver Steegt - SoundEngineer - told me that Groundation will come once again to the C-Club in May with him inclusive. So I asked him to put me on the guestlist - everything should be alright.

But I was very late - family came back from their Ireland vacation and I had to take them. Anyway, I was on the guestlist, I entered the C-Club and saw Michael very busy so I decided to take a drink first and than to say hello to him.

When they started to play their Songs the whole audience was instantly starting to dance - good vibrations - I liked it also very much.

One of the encores was a cover version of the Led Zeppelin song "Battle of evermore". But the audience didn't recognize this. Maybe they were to young for a song of the early 70ths :-)

After the gig Michael and I talked for a while outside in the beergarden. He wanted to go to Brandenburger Tor but I said I could not accompany him because I have to wake up very early the next morning. So we said googbye and I left the C-Club half n hour before midnight.

The Tiger Lillies @Tipi am Kanzleramt / Berlin

Some weeks before Judit from The Netherlands asked me if I would like to accompany her to the Tiger Lillies at the Tipi. I was looking some youtube videos of them and well I thought this could be interesting. So I ordered two tickets for us.

We met some hours before at our home talked a little bit about children, friends and politics and left 1 hour later to arrive at the Tipi in time.

Amy McDonald @Tempodrom / Berlin

We heard Amy MacDonald very often at summer vacation the summer and year before and when I saw she will be on tour I asked my whole family if they like to go. So I ordered tickets for all of us and this would be the first big concert for our chilfren.

It was a rainy Monday and a normal working day, too. We talked about where to meet because I was coming directly from my working place at Wolfsburg to the Tempodrom.

I was the first of our Family there so enough time to give away my working equipment (computer pack) for the whole gig. After some more min. the rest of my family came in. We ordered something to drink and than we were looking for our places. It was no good place - upper left almost parallel to the stage but enough to see and to listen. Kids were very excited.

KMFDM + Support (Pakt) @ K17 - Berlin(DE)

KMFDM - Bandphoto

Once again I asked Judit from The Netherlands, if she wanted to see KMFDM in Berlin. And well, she said yes, so I bought the tickets before. We met 1/2 hour before the official start of the gig.

Arriving there 45 min later we first ordered something to drink, were sitting outside and talked about the people (uhh they are looking so dangerous with their outfit) and much more things, so in the end we missed the opener Pakt. The sound which was coming out when someone was opening the door sounded boring so it was a good desicion.

Georgette Dee & Terry Truck @ Tipi am Kanzleramt - Berlin(DE)

Georgette Dee & Terry Truck @Tipi / Berlin

This was a Birthday present for my wife. We know Georgette Dee and Terry Truck for a very long time - saw them the first time in 1990(?) and than 10 years later. When I was ordering the tickets I didn't realize that the European championship already's started and Germany is playing that evening.

So when we went there by bike more and more soccer-fans were coming in our direction. The Tipi is only some hundred meters behind the fan mile and it was difficult to arrive there.

The Sunpilots @ Arcanoa - Berlin(DE)

The SunPilots @Arcanoa / Berlin

It seems a little bit like The Sunpilots got to be my secret music favorite. This was now my fifth gig with The Sunpilots in 10 month and I still got good vibrations with them.

Today - once again - they played at Arcanoa where I have seen them the first time.

When I was coming home from work at 8 pm I was totally tired and slept a little bit until 9:30 pm, got some coffee and checked at facebook when they would start to play.

I left my home short after 10 pm and arrived there 10 min later. They didn't start to play - still talking with guests and friends and I had a little talk with Raj and Justin about their last gig there and at Ex'n'Pop - the best gig of them so far. I also was welcomed by Bob and Tom.

The SunPilots @Ex'n'Pop / Berlin

What a week!!!

My schedule plan for this week was like every evening - except Monday - is booked for some special occasion. Friday night was planned for The Sunpilots. When I was coming home from work at 8 pm I didn''t know if I should go. So I asked Bob, Justin and Raj via Facebook at which time they will start to play. Some minutes later I got the first reply - for that kind of info I like Facebook - that they will be delayed and maybe start to play around Midnight. So I had enough time to relax for it.
