Common and Pete Rock debuted a new song from their upcoming album The Auditorium Vol. 1 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Accompanied by special guests Bilal and De La Soul's Posdnuos, as well as house band The Roots, the rapper-producer duo performed the soulful, old school-flavored "When the Sun Shines Again" on Wednesday (July 10)'s edition of the late-night talk show.
The performance saw Common, Bilal and Pos sat on sofas on a set made to resemble a basement, with an art deco background that matches the cover art for their joint album.
The Soul Brother Number One held it down on the 1s and 2s, while Questlove and co. manned their familiar instruments.
The Auditorium Vol. 1 is set to be released on Friday (July 12).
"For me, this all started with A Dream," he wrote on Instagram. "A Dream to let the world know I've been here. A dream to be a part of Hip Hop. A Dream to MC at a level where De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One and Ice Cube knew who I was. It's been a dream of mine to work with the LEGENDARY @realpeterock (on more than just one song). I've been Dreamin' my whole life.
"I am super geeked and supremely grateful to announce our New Album - The Auditorium Vol. 1 dropping July 12. I have to say, the love you all have been showing has been INCREDIBLE. And know, anytime someone says they are 'looking forward to that album you are doing with Pete Rock' - It just makes me happy to be a part of this art form."
He added: "We pray and hope that this music will move your spirit and be with you for the rest of your life. Thanks to all who helped make it happen and to all of you for the Supreme Love. GOD Bless."
Speaking on a MusiCares panel earlier this year, he said: "Y'all gon' think I'm just talking, but this new Pete Rock joint. I'ma see y'all when I come back, whenever I'm back, and y'all can tell me if I'm bullshittin' or not.
"It's in my top [three]. I've had a couple people coming in saying, 'Yo, this is one of your best albums.' So I'm excited about it."
