Project SUPERV0ID (with Eraldo Bernocchi, Xabier Iriondo, Jacopo Pierazzuoli and also Jo Quail) is set to launch its first collective effort on May 7, the amazing "The Giant Nothing" project at Subsound Records. Take the full measure of this tacky album in preview on Invisible Oranges!
"Imagine being pushed into space, with no idea where you will be and if you will get anywhere. This is what we felt when we recorded The Giant Nothing. We met, crowded, created. Without direction, without rules. Just emotions."
SUPERV0ID is a project created by composer and guitarist Eraldo Bernucci (Sigillum-S, Obake), multi-instrument bassist Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours, A Short Apnea), drummer Jacopo Pierazzuoli (Morkobot, Obake), and acclaimed cellist Joe Cowell. Their debut album "The Giant Nothing" presents a timeless saga, merging the walls of guitars with cinematic sound scenes, Joe Cowell's cello journeys, and injecting his captivating melodies and harmonious movements into the heart of dark surrounding corridors from around the world. Beauty. An alliance of four pioneering and unlimited innovators, delivering useful work within the frontiers of post-rock, noise and ambient music.
Light surface: an empty portion of space defined by the absence of giant clusters and devoid of about 10,000 galaxies. Scientists believe it can drain energy from the light that passes through it. It takes hundreds of millions of years to cross this large chasm. The journey has begun.
Eraldo Bernocchi is an Italian composer, organizer, producer and guitarist with a solid international reputation. He began his career in the late 1970s as a guitarist in indie punk bands and co-founding the now cult project Sigillum-S. Insatiable creativity, Eraldo Pernucchi has collaborated with many artists including Mick Harris, Bill Laswell, Niles Peter Mulfer, Harold Bad, Russell Mills, Toshinori Condo, Almegreta, Thomas Philman, Ouzou, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Robin Guthrie, Colin Edwin, Palazzo Bandi. A cinematic composer, he is also known to have performed at the Dalai Lama's events in Italy. He toured the US, Asia, and Europe and founded his own brand RareNoise Records in 2008.
Multi-instrumentalist and producer Xabier Iriondo is the predecessor to some of the more adventurous musical projects released in the past 20 years in Italy, such as Tasaday, A Short Apnea and Bunuel. He has released more than fifty albums by major and independent brands, and over two decades explored the possibilities that his tools could offer. He has performed in Europe, USA, Israel and Japan and collaborated with Damo Suzuki, ZU, Reese Chatham, Peter Brutzman, Carla Bozulich, Greg Dooley, OVO, Eraldo Bernucci and many other Italian artists.
Milanese drummer Jacopo Berezoli currently performs in Morkobot and Obake (alongside Porcupine Tree guitarist Colin Edwin and Eraldo Bernocchi), Deneb Kaitos and Blackwood. He began his career playing rock, metal and electronic music, and then moved to post-hardcore, drum, and even contemporary jazz, driven by his interest in the permeability of musical genres and a deep search for his own vocal language. The result is a new style, halfway between modern metal and electronic music. He toured extensively, playing alongside bands such as Papa Roach, Ill Nino, Intronaut, Zu, The Ocean, Bridge To Solace, and Zeni Geva.
London cellist and composer Joe Cowell draws on countless influences, creating music that touches and unites diverse audiences. Although influenced by Bach, Debussy, Tavener and Bartok, or more contemporary artists like Trent Reisnor and Perry Farrell, her memorable and atmospheric writing follows its own path. By combining cello techniques and modern production methods, it creates a lively and soulful sound scene on stage, without pre-recorded elements. As a solo artist, she has released three critically acclaimed albums and a live DVD. It performs regularly in the UK and throughout Europe.
