What a week!!!
My schedule plan for this week was like every evening - except Monday - is booked for some special occasion. Friday night was planned for The Sunpilots. When I was coming home from work at 8 pm I didn''t know if I should go. So I asked Bob, Justin and Raj via Facebook at which time they will start to play. Some minutes later I got the first reply - for that kind of info I like Facebook - that they will be delayed and maybe start to play around Midnight. So I had enough time to relax for it.
It was 11:30 pm when I arrived at Ex'n'Pop where Easengard was already playing their last 2 or 3 songs. The first time I was sitting at the bar ordering something to drink and checked the situation how many people were there and if I knew someone. Well, there was this Finish guy who I saw already on two other Sunpilots-gigs and I saw Bob near the stage so I knew they arrived already. Ex'n'Pop was good filled - maybe 80 - 100 people all with good feelings.
After Easengard had stopped they were immediately rebuilt the stage for The Sunpilots - a short soundcheck - and 3 minutes after Midnight they opened their show with 3 Minutes To Midnight. I was totally thankful that the people stayed there - not leaving like it was at the Frannz Club around xmas - when another band started to play.
The second song was King Of The Sugarcoated Tongues followed by The Captain - like on their last record. Than they made their Beatles-cover of All the lonely people and I realized the people there really liked the music - they were dancing and enthusiastic so I also went more in the direction of the stage.
For the rest of the show (with two encores) I was dancing there, making some photos, tried to make a short video (sound was so terrible bad) and I was singing the words I knew - especially at The Piper´s Mirror I was surprised that I could reach the high tones.
Then they should stop because it was already late after 1 am but the people asked - sooo noisy - for more music so they got the OK from the clubowner to play one more song. They closed their show with Exodus.
After the show I got some small talks with the four Sunpilots - they looked happy but tired which was tributed to their schedule plan (Cologne - Berlin - Geisenheim). I told them that this was the best show I saw with them because this time the audience was so present and when this happens also the band give its best. I bought a Sunpilot-Tshirt and than I left the place driving totally happy back to home.
