STS9 shared their first new studio music in nine years today in the form of the single, “Glass z-13.” The fresh track heralds a big year for the jamtronica pioneers who plan to release a slew of singles that will land on a new album.

STS9’s last studio album, The Universe Inside, arrived in 2016. The band — drummer Zach Velmer, guitarist Hunter Brown, percussionist Jeffree Lerner, keyboardist David Phipps and bassist Alana Rocklin — plans to release 19 new recordings in 2025.

Heralding the new music is “Glass z-13,” which Tribe has been performing live since June 5, 2022 when they debuted the composition in Atlanta, as per STS9 Stats. Press materials for the new single noted “the energy and response from fans shaped the studio recording.”

“Glass z-13” takes its title from one of the oldest and most distant galaxies ever discovered, stretching back 13.6 billion years. The universe is estimated to be 13.8 billion years old.

“We are made of stardust, and we want our music to reflect the awe we feel of being alive in this Human Dream,” the band stated.
