Multi-instrumentalist Skizzo Franick refuses to follow fads and trends. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Nightmares On Wax, Air, Thievery Corporation, Massive Attack, and Kruder & Dorfmeister, Skizzo’s mellow, dub-infused sound combines lush instruments with smokey, downtempo beats. It is music off the beaten paths with flaws and edges, songs that take you on a ride to explore whatever is inside of us.

Get lost in the dense grooves and psychedelic undertones of Franick’s “The Man Who Fell Into A Black Hole.” As the title suggests, you feel as if you are immediately thrown into an endless trip down the history of jazz fusion as the artist surgically navigates a busy and bright arrangement with passionate vocals. The lyrics tell the tale of a troubadour navigating a lonely lifestyle, but the way the guitar melodies warp, it feels almost celebratory. The uplifting and infectious funk of the arrangement grabs you by the shoulders and pulls you closer to the speaker, ensuring you don’t miss the soothing horns or hard-hitting drum patterns. Underneath the ever-evolving instrumentation is a subtle touch of poetry that brings a bit of humanity to the otherworldly sonics. “The Man Who Fell Into A Black Hole” is an explosive piece of jazz fusion with just enough relatability to have you sprinting back for a second listen.
