Post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes (members of My Chemical Romance, Thursday, Circa Survive, and Coheed and Cambria) have shared the third single from their upcoming sophomore album Violet, “Paper Tigers.” This one finds them in slower-paced alternative-rock mode, and it suits them just as well as the fiery 2000s-style post-hardcore that both L.S. Dunes and the members’ classic bands are best known for. It comes with a visualizer created by another post-hardcore veteran, Cedric Bixler-Zavala of At the Drive-In and the Mars Volta.
Violet comes out Jan. 31 via Fantasy Records. The band have one last date of their tour with Rise Against in Del Mar, California tonight (Nov. 22), and they’ll tour Europe and the U.K. in February 2025 before playing Coheed’s S.S. Neverender cruise next fall. All dates here. Coheed also announced a new album this week.
Speaking recently to Billboard, bassist Tim Payne (also of Thursday) says Violet “encapsulates everything we’ve been trying to accomplish since we formed as a band, which is to give us each, as individual musicians, a safe space to explore music in ways that we have not yet had the chance to.”
“Having become much more familiar with each other as artists,” he adds, “we were able to continue to push each other’s creative limits, but this time with a concerted effort to put the songs above all else. This helped create a very cohesive sound, while still being true to our own stylistic choices.”
