Kean Kavanagh has today released his rendition of ‘The Portlaoise Queen’, originally written by Christy Conroy and most famously performed by Doc Fitz.

All profits made on Bandcamp will go to Doctors Without Borders, who are providing medical help for people in Palestine and Sudan.

It is also accompanied by a music video directed by the artist, which you can watch below:

To celebrate the release, Kavanagh will be playing a solo gig in Dublin’s Emporium on Drury Street as part of the Speakeasy Sessions Vol. 2, tomorrow, November 7.

The musician is the co-founder, producer and A&R of Irish Label Soft Boy Records, and, alongside his co-founder Kojaque, has found himself sharing stages with artists like Lana Del Rey, as well as securing solo-slots opening for Maverick Sabre and Vampire Weekend, and starring in a Boiler Room documentary about the label and collective.

He will also be playing a series of shows this December for his The Three Gigs Of Christmas Tour, including dates in London’s Paper Dress Vintage on December 13, Dublin’s Workman's Club on December 18 and Portalaoise Kavanagh’s on December 19. Click here for more ticket information.

Kean Kavanagh’s ‘The Portlaoise Queen’ sells for €5 on Bandcamp, with all profits going to Doctors Without Borders.
