Alt-pop pairing Prima Queen kick off a new chapter with ‘Fool’.
The duo – Louise Macphail (vocals / guitar) and Kristin McFadden (vocals / guitar) – shared their ace EP ‘Not The Baby’ last year, with CLASH reviewer James Mellen opining:
Prima Queen continue to shapeshift, refusing to back themselves into a corner. ‘Not The Baby’ is a slight departure in tone from the band’s previous discography, but it is for sure a welcomed one.
New single ‘Fool’ is out now, a whip-smart piece of alt-pop that is both striking and oddly understated. Produced by Steph Marziano, the duo comment…
“‘Fool’ is about loving someone who is anxious-avoidant and grappling with the fact that they’re incapable of giving you the type of love that you need. It’s the song that took us the longest to write – we started it years ago but kept changing the lyrics because it never felt quite finished. It wasn’t until the relationship was over when we finally understood what we were trying to say.”
Catch Prima Queen at London’s St Pancras Old Church on October 9th.
