Lea Firth comes from a long line of storytellers, musicians and activists.

The daughter of Agustinius Rumwaropen, revered cultural songman and lead singer of the influential West Papuan group, The Black Brothers, Lea was born in the Netherlands; the country where her family sought refuge, after having moved from West Papua, to Papua New Guinea in the 1970s.

Eventually arriving in Australia after spending time living in Vanuatu, the Rumwaropen family settled in Canberra in 1988, where the next generation would be raised. Since then, she has been able to enjoy a fruitful musical career across a number of different projects; notably with her sisters Petra and Rosa (the Black Sistaz), as well as touring with the likes of Blue King Brown.

But now, Lea takes a step forward into her own spotlight as Voice of Lele. Introducing herself recently with the bright and empowered single 'Island Proud', Voice of Lele has arrived to share messages of positivity through her music.

'Island Proud' is a strong debut single, a beautiful ode to Pasifika people throughout the region, encouraging pride in their heritage.

Released on World Refugee Day, 'Island Proud' is anthemic and fits with Voice of Lele's personality: vibrant, engaging and heartfelt.
