Rising reggae star Sevana released her latest single "Keep Going (Chosen)," on Friday, marking the Jamaican singer's first song release of 2024.

The song, a vibey mix of traditional reggae and R&B sounds coupled with Sevana's soul-laden vocals, was produced by Kelsey Gonzalez, bass player for the Free Nationals - who frequently serve as the backing band for Anderson .Paak.

"'Keep Going' is a song I wrote and listen to, even now, to remember my power and purpose," Sevana said in a statement. "We've all gone through trauma, challenges and life's darkest periods at some point. This song is for when you're not sure you should move forward."

Sevana came up through Protoje's In.Digg.Nation collective record label, which had signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment's RCA Records in 2020. She released her eponymous first EP through In.Digg.Nation in 2016, as well as her follow-up EP Be Somebody in 2020. She left the collective in 2022 and created her own label, GoodHzMusic. Prior to "Keep Going (Chosen)," Sevana had released a string of singles on the new label, such as "Brand New," "Lowe Mi," and "One More Time."

The song comes just after Sevana's film debut in the Bob Marley biopic Bob Marley: One Love, where she portrayed Judy Mowatt, a member of Marley's backing vocalist group the I Threes. With the new single out, Sevana is slated to perform at South By Southwest in Austin next week, playing the Flamingo Cantina at 10:30 p.m. on March 13.
