We're stoked today to be premiering the soulful "Do What You Wanna Do" from Georgian singer/songwriter Steve Baskin, with his band The Fourteens. The track is the second from Steve of recent times, following up on the beautiful single, "Love is Hard", that was released earlier in the month.

In "Do What You Wanna Do", Steve takes a deep dive into personal ethics powered along by a kick-arse Muscle Shoals groove. He writes "When I was a kid, all my friends would shoplift candy bars or jewelry from stores, but I was always scared to get caught, so I never did it myself. So with 'Do What You Wanna Do' I started thinking about this idea of an unscrupulous character, and the question of 'Would you do it if you knew you wouldn't get caught?'"

Steve's vocals are packed with emotion on this one, as he asks the big questions. With a sassy brass section, and guitars that soar with the vocals, "Do What You Wanna Do" is a potent and sensual late night cocktail that peers into your soul.

The track will be on his next album, Love Is Hard, which will be released on the 12th of April. The album crosses a number of genres, from California country, blues, folk and roots rock, but the heart of it is his love for blue-eyed Americana soul. Helping out on the album is Atlanta's incredible FunkCake Horns.

His band on the album, The Fourteens, is comprised of guitarist Roger Brainard, backing vocalist Mary Gill, her husband drummer Geoff Gill, bassist Mark Sobus, and pedal-steel wizard Mark van Allen.

Love Is Hard will be Steve's fifth album. They kicked off the recording process at Lee Davis Studios in Maysville, Georgia, not too far from Atlanta. From there it shifted to Steve's Atlanta-based home studio.

Do enjoy our premiere of "Do What You Wanna Do", ahead of its release on Friday, 1st March.
