UK R&B and Soul singer-songwriter Terri Walker, today releases her brand-new single, 'I'm Not The One' via Wings of a Hummingbird Records/Believe UK. The single follows on from the recently released 'Finally Over You', the lead track from her upcoming vicennial album 'My Love Story' to be released April 14th.
Produced by longtime friends and collaborators Children of Zeus (Tyler Daley & Konny Kon), 'I'm Not The One' is Terri's final tease to the eagerly awaited body of work that comes four years after her last album. The single is a captivating blend of Terri's seamless vocals alongside a soulful female led choir. Showcasing a flavor of her signature R&B groove, Terri talks about that feeling of knowing the person you are in a relationship with is not who you are meant to be with and expresses the importance of honesty and not to 'live a lie'.
Ahead of Terri's upcoming album, 'I'm Not The One' comes shortly after dropping celebratory track 'Finally Over You', which marked 20 years to the day of her debut release - the 2003 critically-acclaimed, Def Soul debut project 'Untitled'. The South-London artist gained national and international accolades from the 14 track album that featured American rapper Mos Def and Blueblood. 'Untitled' was nominated for MOBOs 2003 Best Album alongside the likes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent. Continuing the project's success Terri received additional nominations that year for Best Newcomer, Best R&B Act, UK Act of the Year and 'Untitled' was further acclaimed when it was nominated for the 2003 Mercury Music Prize.
Terri said of the single: "'I'm Not The One' is part two of the song, 'Fake' from my debut album, "Untitled". I'm reminding everyone, who may have forgotten or didn't know that I will, never live a lie. I simply don't know how to!"
Drawing on her inspirations from the sounds of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Mica Paris, classically trained Terri Walker credits these renowned singers for her aspirations of wanting to pursue a career in music. Since the age of 17, Terri indulged herself in the UK Garage scene contributing vocals to tracks for the likes of Shanks & Bigfoot and Jaimeson whilst still creating music and perfecting her craft for a hip-hop and urban-soul audience.
With 'I'm Not The One', Terri continues to share her effortless sound that is loved across all generations.
