According to Blabbermouth, both recordings are from a May 3, 2022 recording session at Henson Recording Studio in Hollywood, Calif. Roth reportedly recorded 14 tracks live in two hours without the use of any vocal-correcting technology.
What those 14 tracks are going to be used for is anyone's guess. However, they aren't the only recordings from Roth released this year. In July, Diamond Dave released "Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway". The song was a tribute to the early days of Van Halen.
Along with Roth, the track features the plucky acoustic sounds of current Rob Zombie guitarist John 5, who also served as the guitarist in Roth's solo band for a stretch in the late '90s and early aughts. The song was recorded in the much rumored and lauded recording sessions between Roth and 5 that took place during the 2010s but has never received a grand, full album release. DLR shared the track via his social media channels, with John 5 commenting on Instagram, "My favorite...I'll never forget the day we recorded this."
All of this activity comes on the heels of Roth hinting in June his previously announced "retirement" might not last very long. When spotted by Fox News at Los Angeles International Airport, he said, in part, "I'm only in the middle of my first retirement."
