The String Cheese Incident surprised fans with a brand new EP called Into The Blue Friday morning. Though only four songs in length, the release covers as much musical ground as an SCI live show, featuring the band's interpretation of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill", an expansive contemplation of flight from Kyle Hollingsworth "Dragonfly", and an electronic folk-tinged hoedown "Hi Ho No Show", which was previously released as a single.
The title track, "Into The Blue", was written by multi-instrumentalist Michael Kang in 2018 as his mother was passing. "There didn't seem to be any fear, or sadness," The String Cheese Incident wrote on social media. "Instead, he saw her make a conscious decision to release herself of earthly matters and let the proverbial current carry her."
Into The Blue was recorded at the SCI Sound Lab in Boulder, CO and features guest appearance from members of The Infamous Stringdusters on "Solsbury Hill".
The new EP is available now on all streaming platforms. Listen to the title track, "Into The Blue", and the previously released single, "Hi Ho No Show", in the players below.
The String Cheese Incident will headline two nights of the first-ever Daze Between New Orleansfestival on May 3rd and 4th.
