On Amazones Power – The Remixes, West African musical collective Les Amazones d'Afrique re-imagine songs from their sophomore release Amazones Power, collaborating with underground DJs and producers from the EDM world.
At the beginning of the 2020 lockdown, the band made their track 'Love' available online to inspire creativity and connect with other musicians during a time of social isolation.
They had an overwhelming response (more than 500 producers took part) and thus began a new remote musical conversation across countries and continents. The final result is an EP which covers deep techno, afro house, downtempo and dance-pop, poised and ready to bring the band's powerful messages of gender equality and an end to violence against women to the dancefloors.

The hip-hop influenced first single 'Dogon (Jo Bissa Remix)' features Mamani Keita in a duet with Malian singer Amadou Dembele. The song addresses the on-going conflict between the Dogon and Fulani communities in Mali, advocating for peaceful co-existence. The track was remixed by Amsterdam-based remixer JO BISSA — one half of UMOJA, an exciting Dutch electronic duo with a unique sound that echoes the many stops on their musical journeys throughout Europe and Africa. He most recently worked with Kenyan artists Ngalah Oreyo and Wakadinali, and performed at the Nyege Nyege, Analog Africa and OneTribe festivals.
'Dogon' is out now on all digital platforms. Amazones Power — The Remixes will be released on 13 August 2021 on Real World Records' new digital imprint, Real World X.
