Queen star Roger Taylor has announced an intimate UK tour for later this year. The 14-date tour will help celebrate his forthcoming sixth solo album 'Outsider', which is set to be released on 1st October.
The drummer and songwriter, who wrote a number of Queen's biggest hits including 'Radio Ga Ga', will play a set-list of classic Queen songs and new material from the 'Outsider' LP.
The tour kicks off in Newcastle at the O2 Academy on 2nd October and wraps up in London on 22nd October at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire.
In a statement, Roger Taylor said: "For some time now, we've all just been trying to get by. Now, it's back to the basics, myself and some great musical pals getting back out there to play some rock.
"Obviously we'll include some of the Queen classic catalogue, and some of my earlier solo work, but we'll also be introducing them to some of the new stuff. So we hope folks are going to come on down".
The tour marks Roger's first live performances outside of the band in over 20 years. He will perform alongside a specially assembled outfit for the tour, consisting of Queen keyboardist Spike Edney, supporting drummer Tyler Warren, guitarist Jason Falloon, keyboardist Angie Pollock and bassist Charlie Jones.
Queen + Adam Lambert were forced to reschedule their UK and European tour earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It will now take place in 2022.
The forthcoming album is the drummer's first new material since 'Fun on Earth' released in 2013 and is dedicated to "all the outsiders, those who feel left on the sidelines".
He added: "I've had a bit of a creative spurt and suddenly found myself with an album, which was lovely. It was a surprise!
"I just found myself in the studio and they came out one after the other. It was a pleasure really".
