Legendary bassist Bootsy Collins will release a new studio album entitled The Power Of One via Bootzilla Records/Sweetwater Studios on CD and digital services October 23 with vinyl to follow in December. Bootsy previewed the LP by unveiling its title track along with an accompanying video.
Collins' new album features a slew of guest collaborators including saxophonist Branford Marsalis, jazz guitarist George Benson, young guitarist Brandon "Taz" Niederauer, bassists Christian McBride, Larry Graham and Victor Wooten as well as Snoop Dogg and Dr. Cornel West. Bootsy produced, arranged and co-wrote The Power Of One, with work on the LP started at Sweetwater Studios. The bassist completed the album after the pandemic began while locked down at his Boot-Cave Studios in Cincinnati.
Bootsy Collins shared the guiding philosophy behind the album:
The Power of the One is what pulls us through. Everyone has "The One" inside of them. You never know who is using you for guidance, so always be pure and never fake the funk. Everybody's got a light. Everybody needs to shine. It's there, we just have to trust and use the guidance that is within us, and know that The One knows your program. It was written inside your heart before you made that mad dash racing to be the first one to the egg! You are perfect in the eyes of The One.
