Ani DiFranco is coming to Central New York this fall for a concert.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter will kick off her 2019 tour dates at the Center for the Arts of Homer, N.Y., on Nov. 5. Special guests Gracie & Rachel will open the show at 8 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through EventBite.com or 607-749-4900. Prices range from $32 to $38; additional fees may apply.

DiFranco, known as the "Little Folksinger" and the "mother of the DIY movement," is a Buffalo native who has released more than 20 albums all on her own record label, Righteous Babe Records. She mixes folk with punk, funk, jazz, hip-hop, soul, electronica and more, and has performed with artists as varied as Utah Phillips, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, Michael Franti, Chuck D and Prince.

"We jammed for four hours and she danced the whole time. We had to quit because she wore us out," Prince once said of recording with DiFranco in 1999. "After being with her, it dawned on me why she's like that - she's never had a ceiling over her."

DiFranco most recently released the solo album "Binary" in 2017, featuring contributions from Ivan Neville, Maceo Parker and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. Her memoir, "No Walls and the Recurring Dream," came out in May 2019.

DiFranco is also known for her social and political activism on issues like gun control, abortion rights and the LGBTQ community. She's currently on the board of Roots of Music, an organization that provides at-risk youth with support and musical education in New Orleans, and the creative council of EMILY's List, which helps elect pro-choice Democratic women to office.
