Last month I had the distinct honor to play for His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his 80th birthday celebrations at the Honda Center and the Center For Living Peace at UC Irvine.
The theme of these events was globalizing compassion. The Dalai Lama spoke from the heart about the need for all of us to look inside first at the dark and light and heal from within; only this will allow us to become better servants of humanity and the planet. During these events, I played Once a Day and at his request, Say Hey (I Love You). I am truly honored to have been a part of spreading this message of compassion and celebrating this beautiful human.
I've shared a few videos from these events (and my selfie with the Dalai Lama), including a conversation we had where His Holiness reminded all of us that the truth of who we are lies within our sense of responsibility for the betterment of humanity, that the true power of music lies within the message we bring.... and lastly, what it means to be a "monk without restriction."
Be your best. Serve the greater good. Rock out wherever you are.
