(Home - 1994)

A new name - new music. The sound was quite different to the sound of The Disposable Heroes of HipHoprisy. It was FUNKY and I liked it from the first moment although I expected music like DHOH.

Home is one of only some few records I can listen from the first to the last song.

I don't know if there was a Home-Tour but these years were the last ones of my study in Geology - staying long periods in the Alps of Austria, Switzerland and Italy. The music of these hot long summers was a taped exSpearience of the last years and it was called "Funko-Grazy-Ghetto-Music". Spearhead is a part of it and for me I tell you what it is - it is my "Dream Team".

Michael Franti - Love Kamikaze: The Lost Sex Singles (AUS) - Berlin(DE)

(Love Kamikaze: The Lost Sex Singles - 2005)

Due to the fact that this record is only an Australian release I ordered it Wed Apr 20, 2005. I got my Love Kamikaze package 3 weeks later and I love it from the first moment. The first sequences of the song Love Kamikaze sounds like a mixture of Matt Bianco (Half a minute) and Phil Carmen (On my way to LA). Love me unique sounds like one song of CSH (Keep me lifted/Food for the masses). What happens next is my favorite. I know this song for some years but I can't remember where I heard it first. There is a live video with that song (Spearhead 2-16-2003, Miner's Foundry, Nevada City, CA). There are some Stay Human remixes (Stay Human, Every single soul) - well, the original relaeses I like more and one outtake (I wish that I could be you) - also one of my favorites. Keepin' it natural and Come and mess with me might be good lyrics but too much violines in my opinion. From the new songs Spearhead was playing live the last months I only know One Minute's All I Need (Big Bass Mix). Conclusion: Most of the songs I like. So my motto is: "It's worth not only to get it in Perth. Don't understand why it is only accessable in AUS. Love Kamikaze should be for the whole world."

Michael Franti & Spearhead - I know I'm not alone (EU) - Berlin(DE)

(I know I'm not alone - July 15, 2006)

I went to my local record store that day to order the new Yell Fire record but they told me that it will not be out before 21st July but they had already this single. Of course I bought it. "I know I'm not alone (Radio edit & album version)" is on this record and another blow up song "I've been away (Lighthouse Version)" which I already know from the live gigs. Great. Didn't know that there is this single out. Was never be promoted.

Michael Franti & Spearhead - Yell Fire! (EU) - Berlin(DE)

(Yell Fire! - July 24, 2006)

It was announced "Yell Fire!" would be out on 24th of July in Europe but I could buy it already on 21st. I was so happy to have the CD now for my own although I knew already all songs of this record several weeks before (thanks Bodhi and Trendski).
Musically it changed from the two Spearhead records before. It became more reggae like. My favorites of this record are
Time to go home
What I have seen
followed by Yell Fire, East to the West, Light up your Lighter, Everybody ona move, ... See you in the light doesn't belong to this arragement in my opinion. I know I'm not alone sounds like an U2 songs but this is ok for me.

Queen - A Night in Bohemia @ Colosseum - Berlin(DE)

Queen - A Night in Bohemia

Informed by email alert two weeks before this documentary/concert-film about the legendary Hammersmith gig of Queen in 1975 should be shown at any UCI-Cinemas. I liked to go but not alone. My wife couldn't come so I asked Petra and Sven if they would watch some Queen stuff with me and - surprise surprise - they said yes. I ordered the tickets and was very excited to see a gig of Queen from that time.

We met at the cinema 30 min before it should start - enough time to get something to drink.

First they were showing a 45 min documentation about the foundation of Queen, how difficult it was in the first years and how it came to the "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Then the film about the Hamersmith gig started. I was a little bit disappointed about the sound quality and that the gig only took 1 hour but remember this was Christmas and over 40 years ago.

It was the first time where "Bohemian Rhapsody" was played live before an audience. I was happy that they also played some songs from their second album "Queen II" - especially "The March of the Black Queen" - one of my favorites of all times.
