It was already fixed more than 3 months that my wife and I would go to see Living Colour this year. Also Anja who got a ticket from us as a birthday present would come with us.
We arrived at the Frannz Club early enough and took a place in the back of the venue just behind the bar. Anja was coming some minutes later after Living Colour alredady started to play.
Music was coming out of the speakers but no Living Colour on stage. I knew that song. It was WTFF from the Stain-record which I integrated in a mixtape from the 90’s.
One of the next songs they played was “Ignorance” which I recorded in two parts.
It was maybe one hour after the beginning, when I saw Kay Ketting from “The Sunpilots” at the bar ordering some beer. I welcomed him and he told me that also the rest of the band is somewhere in the front of the stage.
In the meantime Doug Wimbish was doing a long bass-solo with the special sound effects he is famous for. When Living Colour was playing there most popular song “Cult of Personality”, I decided to go more in front of the stage and there they were: Raj Siva-Rajah, Bob Spencer, Stefan Bielik and Kay Ketting - the whole Sunpilots-band. We hugged us short and than full concentration to the songs of Living Colour. Also Will Calhoun and Vernon Reid were doing their solos.
After a short break they were playing some cover songs like “41 shots” - very impressive when Will was druming like a machine gun, next was the Clash song “Should I stay or should I go” and a James Brown cover. The stage was filled with some more people. Two women who were singing back voice and two kids who were dancin. The audience was totally happy after they stopped playing. I also got the time later on to make a selfie together with Doug Wimbish.
With happy feelings we left the Frannz Club.
