DEFUNKT back @Quasimodo

"Back in the 80th - what a time it was" was the opening words of Joseph Bowie - frontman of DEFUNKT - at the gig in Dortmund 2007. This night - it was almost the same.
Months before I realized that I have missed them in March when they were playing in Berlin - so this time I didn't want to miss them.
I told my wife about their gig and she was happy to come with me.
The gig should start at 10 pm at the Quasimodo so we decided to take the car for it. We got a nearby parking place and when we entered the Quasimodo it still was music from the mixer. After ordering some drinks and having a good place to stay and sit they came out for the show.
I am still enthusiastic about their funky fresh music especially I liked to see play John Mulkerin on the trumpet and Kim Clarke - the female bass player. They played a lot of songs from "Thermo nuclear sweat" like "Illusion", "Avoid the funk" and "Mind control" from the "This is the funk"-compilation - one of my favorites. With a short break they played more than 2 1/2 hours the P-Funk I liked. Curious in the end was that Joseph Bowie diappeared during the last song behind the stage and didn't come out again.
Anyway, the show was good and we were 1/2 n hour later at home.
