South African artist TYLA has revealed a new EP titled ‘WWP’.
The 4-track bundle includes previous singles ‘IS IT’ and ‘BLISS’, and new focus single ‘DYNAMITE’ featuring Wizkid. Produced by Nigerian producer P. Priime, who helmed Wizkid’s breakthrough LP ‘Made In Lagos’, the after-hours track pairs lilting Spanish guitar with shuffling Afrobeats percussion.
TYLA teased the link-up (which had been incubating for a few years) at an exclusive listening session in London. “When I thought of doing a mixtape called ‘WWP,’ I went back to all my old demos and I remembered the Wiz one,” TYLA told her audience in July. “And it was still good, like, after three years! I just told him, ‘Let’s finish it because I want to drop it’.”
Following her homecoming shows in South Africa, the singer was adamant about returning to the studio. ‘WWP’ is the first glimpse into those transitional sessions, building outwards from the club-ready feel of her self-titled debut and the deluxe edition that followed.
Next up, TYLA is set to perform at All Points East in London on August 23rd and at the Global Citizen Festival in New York this coming September.
