Jimmy Page, the founder and guitarist of Led Zeppelin, has recalled the night he, himself, the frontman of the band, Robert Plant, and the iconic drummer of Queen, Roger Taylor, teamed up for a last-minute performance during an award show, replacing the highlight band.

On his recent Instagram post, the Led Zeppelin legend, Jimmy Page, has reminisced about one of the most spectacular spontaneous performances within his career referring to his bandmate, Robert Plant, and quite surprising name, Queen's Roger Taylor.

In the caption of the video of the trio's 1996 performance on Channel V, India's premier music channel, Page said that Robert and he had been invited to accept an award from there for longevity.

Furthermore, he explained that Los Del Rios, whose 'Macarena' song was a global hit at the time, was the highlight of the program. However, at the last minute, the duo pulled out of the trip as one of them had developed a sore throat.

The channel, which was having an emergency at that moment, approached Page and Plant to do something though they didn't have any instruments with them and hadn't rehearsed. Channel V suggested that Jimmy and Robert could mime the unforgettable Led Zeppelin song, 'Rock and Roll,' with Roger Taylor on drums, who was there to accept an award on behalf of Freddie Mercury.

Page said that they agreed to it and did a quick rehearsal, three of them and a bass player from Goa. Although the Goan bass player was well behaved during the rehearsals, he couldn't stop moving throughout the performance on stage and made it even more of a pantomime than it already was, Page stated.

Here's what Jimmy Page said in his recent Instagram post:

"On this day in 1996, I appeared on Channel V with Robert Plant.

Robert and I had been invited to accept an award from Channel V - India's premiere music channel - and we had won an award for longevity.

The highlight of the show was to be Los Del Rios, whose Macarena song was a global hit at the time. Unfortunately at the last minute, the duo pulled out of the trip as one of them had developed a sore throat; which was quite ironic considering they were going to mime.

As it was, the chief dancer and choreographer of their video was to perform the song on her own. I believe this was the first time Channel V was doing this on an international level and now they had a bit of a problem."

He continued:

"They approached us to do something and of course we didn't have any instruments and hadn't rehearsed. It was suggested that we could mime 'Rock'n'Roll' with Roger Taylor from Queen on drums (who was there to accept an award on behalf of Freddie Mercury) and a bass player from Goa.

We agreed to it and did a quick rehearsal, I felt sorry for Channel V that they'd been let down by the Macarena boys.

During the rehearsals, the Goan bass player was well behaved but when it came to the show he suddenly developed a dose of Saint Vitus Dance and transformed into Billy Whiz crossed with the Flash.

He couldn't stop moving throughout the song and made it even more of a pantomime than it already was.

But hey we did it and it was really good to be part of this special award show which is still being aired today."
