Los Angeles, CA - It looks like KRS-One is working on something with Dr. Dre. On Thursday (August 16), The Teacher shared an Instagram photo of the two Hip Hop powerhouses together and revealed he had new music on the way.

"Yo, I was in the studio last night with Dre and Tuffy checking out some dope beats," he wrote in the caption. "New KRS-One Coming Soon! Shout out to Anderson Paak."

Anderson .Paak, of course, is signed to Dre's Aftermath Records imprint, so it's possible it's a collab between all three of them.

It's been 22 years since KRS and Dre have worked on a track together. The duo's last collaboration, 1996's "East Coast/West Coast," was released two months after Tupac Shakur's murder.

Featuring KRS, Nas, B-Real, and The Narrator RBX, the song was an attempt to bring together West Coast MCs and East Coast MCs in a show of solidarity.

KRS' lastest album, The World Is Mind, was released in 2017.

KRS-One Is Working On New Music & He's In The Studio With Dr. Dre

by Jake Paine

Last year, KRS-One self-released an exceptional album. Thirty years after Boogie Down Productions' Criminal Minded, Tha Teacha' dropped The World Is MIND, a 15-track LP on his R.A.M.P. Entertainment. In recent years the Bronx, New York representative worked with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on the DJ-Premier-produced "Buckshot," and reunited with Channel Live's Hakim Green on Mr. Green's Live From The Streets inclusion "Superpowers."

Yesterday (August 16), Kris Parker posted a photo of himself with another 30-plus-year Rap veteran. The photo shows KRS-One and Dr. Dre in the studio. According to the B.D.P. co-founder (who shouted out Aftermath Entertainment's Anderson .Paak), he was "checking out some dope beats." Additionally, Blastmasta' confirmed that new music is coming.

At a time when Dre is said to be at least 10 songs deep on an LL Cool J project, this should raise some Hip-Hope eyebrows. Previously, Dre was fast at work with Rakim on what was intended to be his third solo album, said to be titled Oh My God. That LP was later scrapped, reportedly due to creative differences.

KRS and Dre have worked together before. While Dre sampled Kris' voice on 1995 hit "Keep Their Heads Ringin'," it was two years later that the two linked for "East Coast/West Coast Killas" on Dre's Aftermath compilation. That song presented what is believed to be a short-lived super-group, Group Therapy. The crew, also including Nas, Death Row alum RBX, and B-Real came in the form of a video, including Scarface. A video was later released.

Although an accomplished producer in his own right, KRS-One has made an impact through rocking over beats by DJ Premier, Showbiz, Marley Marl, and others. At a time when Rap music is breaking down some walls surrounding ageism, potential collaborations could be powerful impact for two living Hip-Hop legends.
