Queen admit Adam Lambert team-up was always “written in the stars”

by Emily H

Brian May is admitting that Adam Lambert teaming-up with Queen was always destined to happen and “written in the stars.”

May made the gushing remark about Adam in a new interview with Romania’s UNews, where he confessed that even if Lambert hadn’t chosen to perform the Queen classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” during his 2009 stint on American Idol, the two would still have found each other.

“It would have happened anyway, it was written in the stars,” May confessed.

Brian made the admission after Adam was quizzed about his stratospheric rise to fame since appearing on the Fox singing show in 2009, where the “Ghost Town” singer revealed that he “wouldn’t have believed” he’d be where he is today had someone told him seven years ago.

“No, I wouldn’t have believed it if someone had told me, ‘Okay, fast forward six years from now and you’re going to be touring the world with Queen,” Lambert admitted during the interview. “I’m really glad I went with that song for that reason, it turned out well.”

Adam Lambert then recalled singing with May and Roger Taylor during the season 8 finale of American Idol, where the group teamed-up for the very first time to perform the Queen classic “We Are The Champions.”

“What’s amazing is that they came onto the finale [of American Idol]… and I think there was definitely that feeling of recognition,” Lambert said, “Something felt like it was clicking to me.”

Lambert previously spoke about hit life changing decision to perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” on American Idol in an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, admitting that the song changed his trajectory in terms of the songs he chose to sing week after week on the series.

““Bohemian Rhapsody” seemed to click for [the judges], so right away I realized I have to figure out which path I take on this show,” Adam said.

“Having watched the show for a long time, there is a strategy involved. You have to be a clear idea of an artist for them to really get it. So at that point I was like, ‘I’m going to go for slightly more retro material on the show and that’ll sort of be my thing,’” Lambert confessed.
