Blue King Brown Frontwoman’s New Album Smashes Into Billboard Reggae Charts At #2

by Staff Writer

Nattali Rize

There are no two ways about it: Blue King Brown frontwoman and solo artist Nattali Rize knows how to make an impact.

The Australian-bred, Jamaica-based roots artist has landed her first-ever US chart result by smashing her way to the #2 spot on this week's Billboard Reggae chart with new album Rebel Frequency, being beaten to the top spot only by the ascendant Satsang, whose Pyramid(s) climbed six spots to claim the throne this week.

The result is made all the more impressive when one considers the acts she outperformed in the latest rankings, including well-known US outfits such as Stick Figure (#3, Set In Stone), Rebelution (#4, Falling Into Place) and Common Kings (#5, Lost In Paradise).

A little further out, Jamaican compatriots and ska veterans The Skatalites also make a top-10 landing with Foundation Ska, which managed #8 on debut this week.

The huge outcome for Rize comes amid a surge in momentum for her activism-heavy, socially aware tunes, with recent single One People swiftly approaching the 300,000-view mark on YouTube as she makes her way across Europe on a three-month tour.

She's already knocked over dates in France, and continues her travels in Poland this weekend, kicking off at Wroclaw's Club Stary Klasztor on Friday 7 April. She's also got shows lined up in the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, France (again), Belgium and Switzerland.

Rebel Frequency is out now through Roots Level.
